Naperville, Ill. – October 15, 2020 – Right now every building owner is trying to find ways to make their tenants feel safe as employees return to work—and tech companies and manufacturers are responding. The IoT (Internet of Things) coupled with the connected elevator are changing the game for a 150-year-old industry that has generally remained unchanged, but always reliability. And the future of a connected cabin is leading to faster transit for building occupants, energy savings for sustainability, and new and engaging experiences in the elevator for passengers.

Acumen Research and Consulting expects the global escalators and elevators markets value to reach an estimated $135 billion by 2027 and is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 6.1% in terms of revenue during the forecast period of 2020 until 2027.

At the National Constructech Technology Conference Days November 12-13, which will be held, both virtually and live, at MxD in Chicago, IL, Jon Clarine, head of digital services, thyssenkrupp Elevator, will discuss the types of changes that are happening within the elevator industry and what are planned to meet the urbanization and building transportation needs of the future.

“Cloud and mobile technologies are allowing our customers and the riding public to experience the elevator ride in new and more personal ways, from automatic calling of elevators with mobile devices to intelligent dispatching through AI and computer vison,” says Jon Clarine, head of digital services, thyssenkrupp Elevator. “This is making elevator use: faster, safer and more engaging than ever before.”

Leveraging thyssenkrupp’s industry leading AGILE and MAX IoT technology platforms, Clarine is responsible for launching a new line of business that delivers digital products and services to customers of elevators, escalators, and moving walks all over North America.

Prior to this role, he managed the product strategy for thyssenkrupp America’s $3.5 billion product portfolio, including the digitalization strategy to grow core elevator sales with software-defined products. Prior to joining thyssenkrupp Elevator, Clarine was the global digital solutions leader for GE’s Waukesha and Jenbacher business units (now Innio), where he led a team of product managers and business developers in launching software solutions through predictive analytics and remote services for power generation and oil and gas applications. He began his career as a controls engineer for heavy duty gas and steam turbine power plants and has held roles in sales, quality, operations, product management, and business development.

“Jon brings a new energy and a manufacturers’ perspective to our Constructech Technology Days event,” says Peggy Smedley, president and editorial director, Specialty Publishing Media. “People are beginning to trust manufacturers to provide a product in a safe way. Now it is time to talk about how the IoT fits into all of this.”

This year, Technology Days 2020 is something old and new—but for the first time, we are creating a hybrid event for attendees. Some keynotes and other sessions will provide Q&A discussions and live presentations! This will allow more individuals to participate creating a global opportunity to hear from our first-class speakers (on your own time), research technology solutions, and access additional content on-the-go anytime.

The first day of sessions focuses on the global need for diversity, equality, and encouraging greater STEM in the building and manufacturing space. It will also explore the global trends ranging from prefabrication, new materials and processes, underlying design assumptions, BIM, intelligent infrastructure, and urban mobility.

Day two focuses on the advancement of technology that is inspiring an industry and the next generation of workers to leverage technology to achieve sustainability objectives. In many cases this means building a vision for those companies that believe in taking on a moonshot dream for achieving sustainability and climate goals through the use of traceability and tracking technology. To build tomorrow’s future we will continue to leverage the worker of the future, new AR/VR, drones, and other tools to reshape our urbanization, and so much more.
