Naperville, Ill. — November 19, 2020 — Last Thursday, November 12, Constructech awarded the recipients of its sixth annual Women in Construction awards, sponsored by Compass Datacenters. What a night to celebrate the growth of women in the industry—from a stagnant 9% to 10.3% in 2019, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
This list was created, six years ago, to honor the women’s successes in overcoming adversity in the face of a male-dominated construction industry. The women named to the list each year seek to continually push the standards in the industry to make the world a better place for future generations.
“As a woman myself, one of my favorite nights of the year is celebrating fellow women’s successes,” says Peggy Smedley, editorial director of Constructech magazine and president of Specialty Publishing Media. “It is such a pleasure to see the winners, guests, family, and colleagues join in our first ever virtual celebration. Congratulations again to this year’s Women in Construction winners for all that you do for the industry. I hope to be able to report next year that we continued to grow in numbers in the space.”
