Naperville, Ill. – October 12, 2020 – With 68% of the global population living in urban areas by 2050, our cities are changing—and construction companies will be tasked with reshaping how our urbanization is built, and how it looks and functions.

George Thomas, co-founder of New Urbana, will join the speaker lineup at the National Constructech Technology Day ConferenceOn November 13, Thomas will lead a conversation diving into how the very fabric of our cities is changing, and how construction companies will need to adapt to new needs. His timely conversation will address pre-COVID and post-COVID challenges and opportunities for organizations looking to reimagine building our world.

“The last couple of decades have brought in a tremendous number of advancements in technology, engineering, and engagement models that have changed traditional operating modes. The construction industry, as many others, will be impacted and we have to be proactive to adopt, adapt, and advance what we build, how we build, and importantly why we build, the next generation of societal infrastructure,” says Thomas.

Thomas is a thought leader and adviser to public and private sector organizations in the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia. For more than 23 years, he has senior positions with the management, business consulting, and engineering practices of IBM , Hatch, PSINet; Metamor; Mott MacDonald and others, where he has helped develop successful strategies and execute transformational projects in operations, capital improvement, organizational change management, and strategic planning. He is a recognized industry expert at the intersection of technology and business, in areas such as applied innovation, cognitive computing, quantum computing, deep analytics, smart cities, blockchain, the new digital, IoT, and cloud computing.

“Thomas has a keen eye for recognizing trends that are on the horizon and will impact construction in the days ahead,” says Peggy Smedley, president and editorial director, Specialty Publishing Media. “His insights will help our audience learn how to adapt to new needs in our cities, ultimately changing the way we build and operate.”

Achieving ecological sustainability must be at the forefront of each business when manufacturing, designing, and constructing homes, roads, bridges, buildings, utilities, stadiums, hospitals, and more. Constructech Technology Days examines the implications on the natural environment, people’s health, and the sustainable development for corporations by how consumers, businesses, and smart cities, are speaking louder through their buying choices and companies will need to turn to technology to help them understand the implications of their decisions.

This year, Technology Days 2020 is something old and new—but for the first time, we are creating a hybrid event for attendees. Some keynotes and other sessions will provide Q&A discussions and live presentations! This will allow more individuals to participate creating a global opportunity to hear from our first-class speakers (on your own time), research technology solutions, and access additional content on-the-go anytime.

We are delivering a new conference, creating innovative opportunities for attendees to explore the latest technologies and advances from the finest people in industry focusing on the IoT, AI (artificial intelligence), BIM (building information modeling), digital twin, machine data, and more.

Technology Days will tackle the issues facing the built environment from infrastructure, utilities, energy, to connecting and building smart cities, stadiums, sustainability, resiliency, manufacturing, you name it, as these champions of tech explore every aspect of sustainability, carbon reduction, and resiliency.

The first day of sessions focuses on the global need for diversity, equality, and encouraging greater STEM in the building and manufacturing space. It will also explore the global trends ranging from prefabrication, new materials and processes, underlying design assumptions, BIM, intelligent infrastructure, and urban mobility.

Day two focuses on the advancement of technology that is inspiring an industry and the next generation of workers to leverage technology to achieve sustainability objectives. In many cases this means building a vision for those companies that believe in taking on a moonshot dream for achieving sustainability and climate goals through the use of traceability and tracking technology. To build tomorrow’s future we will continue to leverage the worker of the future, new AR/VR, drones, and other tools to reshape our urbanization, and so much more.
