“We have several options that we are exploring that would allow the Coop as a whole sell the bee position without selling any shares.” If that direction is taken would that mean that all co-op share owners would receive a share of the bee net income?
Depending on what option come about, the over all purpose of the bees has been to help pay off the land as quickly as possible. I do not see a net return coming to the individual shareholders other than the current agreement. However should we have an opportunity as a board representing the land cooperative to trade bees for funds to pay off the land, then this will provide additional funding for infrastructure and other operational activities that will benefit the shareholders. Keep in mind that this is a non profit entity, which benefits all of the shareholders.
The cooperative will be involved in the honey business one way or the other. If Earth’s Purest fails for any reason, we will take over the program for our group. We have two professional bee keepers coming on as share holders as well as two of our board members currently raise bees. In addition each shareholders has the right to have two hobby hives of their own on their two acres.
