The Utah OSR Land Cooperative is now a reality with a 1,245-acre farm under contract. This represents a year of planning and hard work by many individuals. For the Academy of Self-Reliance, it represents our first campus where we can add new dimensions in the education and practical hands-on applications needed to teach self-reliance principles.

In addition, the Board of the Utah OSR Land Cooperative has approved and is providing two two-acre sites for garden parks with access to water. These two garden parks will serve multiple purposes. One purpose is to provide an oasis, a place of beauty that is full of life. These gardens will be the beginning of a greenbelt that will run the entire length of the 3-mile-long property. Another purpose is to provide examples of what water can bring to a soil that has been barren for so long. Part of the design will include solar power to operate the wells at each location.  These two gardens will be dedicated to all weary travelers as places of rest and refuge.

These two gardens will be developed under the direction of a steering committee that is being formed now. This committee will be made up of a representative from public and private sectors. Funding will be made available through private donations and grants. We invite all that would like to participate at any level to contact me personally, as I am taking an active role in this exciting new project.
